It should be noted that herpes is contagious and can be transmitted through direct contact with a herpes,  with fluid from a herpes or saliva of a person suffering from herpes.
After the first occurrence of herpes heal there are two possibilities: one is that organism has to immunize against the virus that caused disease (usually Herpex simplex type I) and the second possibility is that the virus remains in the body was waiting for a new opportunity for reactivation  such as:
- Appearance of a cold
- Strong stress, distress body
- An inadequate nutrition
- Menstruation
